Pets Past and Present
I've forgotten this one's name.
It was a very dumb animal. The little girl
who owned it, Jennifer, claimed that it was a very smart rabbit because it used a kitty litter
box. I pointed out to her that it was usually sleeping in the kitty litter box.
The rabbit died after eating about five pounds of foam rubber from a mattress in
the guest room.
This is T.C., stepping out for a night on the town in Berlin, Steglitz.
The good thing about T.C. is that I pulled him out of a garbage can, and he always
kind of knew that I could send him back there if I really wanted. He was a great
cat and didn't even mind when I bought a bird.
The bird's name was "Putzi", which is German for "Tweety" or "Cutie", depending on
how literal you want to be.
This poor bird had a terrible name, so I taught him
American obscenities. He had quite an attitude, and it was wonderful watching him
talk to to the cat.
This is "Anatole".
He was a good lizard, but he always needed crickets and fresh
water and stuff. He lived quite long time for his kind, and even produced offspring with
"Phillipe", but we have not gotten any new lizards since he passed.
This little guy never got a name, he's a tree frog from Ocracoke.
I took him from
the lawn of the airport a day after it had been mowed, and some might say I should
have left him for the next lawn mower, since that is nature's way. Well, we did all
we could to keep him healthy, even bought mutated, wingless fruit flies. He ate a few,
but died anyway. The surviving fruit flies met some local girls, flourished and produced many, many offspring with wings, so he was not soon forgotten.
This is Scruffy. She was a mean, lean puppy-making machine before she got retired. Then she put on some weight and got meaner.
When she first moved in with us, she hated me and charged me often when I tried
to get into bed. Finally I took a newspaper and beat her half to death and now she's
my best buddy. But she still has issues.
This is Taylor as a pup.
Most puppies are cute, some are cuter than others. I
chose Taylor because she was being completely trounced by her wire-haired sister, and
I figured she would be more or less docile

You just never know with pets.

But she is pretty.
